When school started this year Mayra was moved from Palmira here in Boquete, to a larger school, Loma Colorada in David. Loma Colorada is located in a red zone, a place considered unsafe and rife with poverty. The school has over seven hundred students man of whom go to school hungry and many of whom come from families that could not provide the basics. Since students in Panama need uniforms for school Mayra identified a group that needs some of the basics. They either had none or had one short, one pair of pants and or no shoes or socks.

Ken and Pattie Thompson, Boquete expats, offered to help and they and the Boquete Bible Fellowship helped provide uniforms and some shoes for thirty two students. Mayra and I added more and finally this past week she was granted permission to distribute the clothes.

Mayra and all those students would like to thank Ken and Pattie and all those who contributed for their help. There are new challenges, in the past Loma Colorada received food from the government to feed their students, this year, none. We are exploring how to help feed those students who are from the poorest families. If you have an idea how to help please let us know.
