Boquete Panama Weather Report
Posted by Lee on February 5, 2009
It is the dry season in Boquete Panama, just two months after the floods of November, houses along the Caldera river were again evacuated due to potential flooding.
The winds from the north that usually bring a break from the rain have carried an “unseasonable” storm, not just high winds but lots of rain, correction Bajareque, a mist from the north. It has made for an uncomfortable combination of wet winds, falling trees, potential and real flooding all within months of the “heck of a job Brownie” repairs to the river banks.
This video will give you some idea of the winds, the rain and the angry river near the Feria bridge and where it has once again cut the road, just repaired along the river near the Wilson bridge.
We were camped at Amigos in Bajo Boquete where there was electricity and intermittent Internet. Then the internet went out and we had to move south to do this post.
The photo below shows why we do not expect to see power for several days. The power pole that is snapped is of reinforced concrete.
