There was a topic started on Boquete.Ning.com regarding fly fishing in Boquete. When I think of fly fishing I think of trout. Both Boquete and Volcan have trout farms and I decided to see if I could find some trout.
Lacking a fly, a fly rod and the propensity to stand in a cold and rather unpredictable river, I used my car and found my trout cleaned ready for the griddle.
I knew that the restaurants did not have assigned fisherman, so I sought out their source and discovered that if you are willing to forage into Los Naranjos you too can catch trout by the pound.
Drive into Los Naranjos past the stadium and look for this little market on the left side of the road.
Then pull over an on your right you will see this building, the house of trout.
Walk in and look for the house on your left, enter this office and place your order. Trout filletes $3.75 pound with no minimum order, my first order was for one pound, two fish. I returned the next day for five pound and had a chance to talk to some of the staff.

They confirmed the rumor that they are raising salmon and should have locally grown salmon available for sale before the end on 2010. Yum!

your article says the farm salmon should be here in boquete by the end of 2010 this is 2012, where are they???
They came, they grew, they killed and buried all of them and now they are waiting to see if the US FDA approves the Salmon for sale.
I am going to Chiriqui for 14 days. I would love to : catch, eat, and otherwise fish for Trout. I don’t want to pay top dollar in the Bambito Hotel for a meal. So I will be looking this place up if it still exists.
You can buy them frozenin Boquete and eat away, but there is no place to fish for them.
