After the flooding and mud slides in Boquete Panama
Posted by Lee on November 5, 2009
The sun is shining in Boquete Panama today. I have been told the pending tropical storm is moving north not south toward Panama. Maybe that will allow time for some drying out, we need it. There are mud slides blocking many roads and coming down to town from Jaramillo was a long ride passing a few small slides and damaged pavement.

Valle Escondido is the big news and I cannot get into the area to take photos or confirm any rumors. Therefore please accept this information as gossip, not documented unless people comment with first hand confirmation.
I have been told that all residents are being asked to leave Valle Escondido because there is no water to the houses and there is a continuing risk of the valley walls falling. At least one house was badly damaged by a falling boulder and many flooded with mud. Other homes along some of the smaller rivers outside of Escondido were also flooded.
The road near the Feria was blocked by a landslide and I can confirm with this photo that they are woking on clearing that slide today.
Hopefully there will be some more information added by other residents about the their situations.

We have never been asked to leave Valle Escondido and my house has never been without water, nor have houses of many of my friends here. There are some house that have not had water, but you paint with a very big brush with very little knowledge. The Boquete rumor mill at it again.
Editor: Richard as I said I was not allowed access to Valle Escondido and I stated I was repeating a rumor hoping you and others would clarify. Thank you for reading and responding.
