Musica at Mi Tierra Chiriqui
Posted by Lee on December 9, 2006
We read a post on Don Ray’s wonderful Chiriqui Chatter blog about a Jazz performance at Mi Tierra Chiriqui on Thursday Dec 7 at 7:30. Mi Tierra Chiriqui is easy to find, just head east on the Pan American Hwy from the Boquete Turn off and well before you spot the familiar Sign of Price Smart on the left you will find the restaurant.

(The small dark line on the upper side of the sign is another restaurant diner, a gecko enjoying the free eats attracted to the light)
We arrived early hoping to enjoy dinner before the music started and enjoy some coffee with the music. In totally non typical Panamanian fashion the musicans arrived early! They were playing before the food was served.
I am sorry that I never asked either the names of the musicians or the name of their duet but we were really surprised about how good they were. Nice soft jazz. Tragically the restaurant had them competing with canned Christmas Music for some time before they turned off the CD. Hopefully someone will add the name of the group because they are worth hearing again.
Comidas: We were happly surpised the Mi Tierra Chiriqui has a Mexican flovor to their menu, we miss Mexican Cuisine.
Jennifer ordered a Shrimp and garlic dish with fried Yuca a local treat.
It came with some veggies so she was happy but not elated with her dinner.
I ordered a fish filet rolled around a shrimp stuffing, something done beautifully just down the street at Restaurante Cebicheria Sol. It came with some shredded lettuce and frys. It also edible but not exceptional.
As we were enjoying the music and the staff finally shut of the CD player we ordered coffee with hot milk, a Jennifer tradition. They arrived with coffee and powdered creamer. I am sorry this was a first in Panama and not something we could endure so we paid our bill and headed back to the hills.
I am not sure if we will try Mi Tierra Chiriqui again, we might, but we will bring our own milk.
The bathrooms were totally acceptable
